Worth a roll!

By: on 5 August 2016
I bought this on sight, always been on the mallet style, so it's not been a huge leap for the eyeline from a counterbalanced Futura X (personally) . I wasn't sure what to expect, it really did look like another gimmick pumped out by TMAG. But it's not, I guess if JD is on it (albeit without the cranked neck and sight line) it can't be terrible. The feel with the midsize grip, the dominant sight line and high contrast against the deck really suited my eye and the solid feel and balance made it appealing to the hands. Knocking around the practice green I really started to get the roll and shape sorted, but it wasn't until I had to put it to work in comp that it proved itself. In particular, I liked the alignment for short putts (the line really glares at you through the red in the practice stroke), while the confidence and balance in the 10+ footers really helped me roll it close or in-certainly better by the numbers after analysis. I did notice that the face tends to absorb the texta alignment lines on balls-makes it difficult to keep clean. (I'm a neat freak though) For feel and look it will appeal to the mallet guys, the blade style players mightn't like the look behind the ball. With respect to my dearly beloved Scotty Cameron, this one is my gamer now. Go and try it out, with two colour options this could be the putter you are looking for. Four and a half stars.
